Commission for :iconpatrickat:

"Just try me", Elisa glares at Jezebella, the evil clone of Angela who was trying to get away with her stolen goods from the detective, leading her in a rooftop chase and battle. The gargoyle apparently underestimated the cop...

I went a bit kooky with the background and stuff. I also have several markers who declared they wouldn't be able to comply in the matter of getting this piece done. I'll hold a funeral for dead markers later.

By the way if you're interested, I recorded the stream during which I did this. It's got lots of talking, art tips, questions answered, display of really old art, and other goofiness on a classical/movie soundtrack because that's what music I had available, so go check it out if you've got time to spend on such things.

I am still blown away that all your work is traditional. I can't see any hint of where your marker marks start or stop (y'know, save for the sky, but that's ok! that's a big spot to cover). Cannot get enough of your careful attention to environment/buildings too. So many artists-myself included- draw figures well, but skimp on environment , or make it look crappy. It's awesome to see both elements are very strong.

Thank you so much! It comes from tons of practice. :)

I think you should give yourself a building/background-drawing challenge. Like you said, so many artists are great at characters but shy away from backgrounds, and the only thing these artists need is the practice! So many webcomic artists say how much their background drawing has improved because they trained themselves with their comic. I'm a big advocate of "keep challenging yourself", and will plow into drawing what I find difficult to draw. So you should take a sketchbook and go draw some environments. See if you can figure out the perspective of what you see and practice that for a while. I garantee you can only benefit from it!

Haha, I usually reserve that gung-ho challenge bug during April & April Drawing. ;) You are right though- it' be nice to get a regular rhythm going where that challenge is applied everyday.

Exactly.

Which means I'll include a lot more BG challenges next April!
